Personal computer

A personal Computer is a single user oriented and general purpose micro computer processing system that can execute the program instructions to perform a wide variety of tasks. A personal computer fits on a normal size of an office table. Personal computers are microcomputers. They are single user multi processing computers. A  personal computer can execute the program instructions to perform a wide variety of tasks. A personal computer contains a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. Several high level languages can  be used in a personal computer. Popular operating systems such as MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows, Windows NT, Linux, UNIX are used in this type of computer system.

Types of Personal Computers

Desktop computer

Desktop computers are the single user personal computers that can be placed on a desk and hence called desktop. Desktop computers contain a high memory for primary and secondary storage: peripheral devices such as monitors, keyboard, mouse etc which are attached with it. Desktop computers are used for the purpose of desktop publishing, graphics, data entry etc. While desktop computers were the most popular types of personal computer for several decades, in recent years, laptop sales have surpassed those of desktop PCs . However, desktop computers remain the most popular choice of business workstation and family computers. 

Laptop Computer

Laptop computers are portable computers mainly used by the people who need computing resources wherever they moved or travel. The size of a laptop computer can easily fit in a briefcase and lap of the user.  Laptop computers are light in weight. A laptop contains attached keyboard, a flat LCD display, a touch pad, floppy disk, CD/DVD drive etc. Laptop computers normally run windows operating system.

Notebook computer 

Notebook computers are smaller type of microcomputers than laptop computers. They are ultra portable with very less weight. They can be easily connected to Internet WI-FI (Wireless Fidelity) and most of them have in built microphones and webcams. A notebook computer, typically weighs less than 5 pounds and is 3 inches or less in thickness. Among the best known makers of notebook computers are IBM, Apple, Compaq, Dell, Toshiba, and Hewlett-Packard. 

Palmtop computer 

Palmtop is small, light weight,  battery-powered, handheld computer enough to hold in one hand and operate with the other. It is also called a 'handtop' which typically contains a miniaturized full-function and a small, full color, liquid-crystal display for output. In addition to an operating system compatible with that of a desktop computer, a palmtop contained a word processor, a spreadsheet program, and a calendar and phone book. 

Tablet PC 

Tablet PC is a portable, extremely lightweight and highly manageable general purpose computer, offering greater scope to the people to carry them anywhere. The display screens are impressively large, providing a comprehensive view and thereby offering immense ease to go through the content. As cloud computing is the most preferable source to deliver synchronized experiences, tablet PCs have conveniently adjusted themselves to the preferences. They have great software and stronger processor, which are equipped enough to handle dynamic scale of operations that both professional and personal life need. 

Mobile Computing 

Mobile computing is the process or method of using latest portable computing technology that allows to use and access internet and other applications services when we are on move. Nowadays, small and portable handheld computing devices and advanced mobile phones are popularly used. These devices are very much popular and common for every user. There are different types of mobile computing devices such as Personal Digital Assistance (PDAs), Smart Phone, Blackberry phone, I-phone, Internet Tablet, HSDPA (High Speed packet Data Access) and other 3G mobile phones. The developments of mobile computing devices have changed the human life indispensable way. They are very much useful and important for each and every person because they are portable, handy and support all the latest technologies such as Virtual network, WI-FI, Cloud storage etc.
